Baby Booty Cake

I was so excited to make this cake!  I LOVE it!  I made for one of my husband's coworkers.  The bottom layer was strawberry cake with cream cheese frosting, the mommy-to-be's favorite!  The top layer was traditional vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream.

I made the booty and the legs out of Rice Krispy treats.  It was easier than I thought it would be and I absolutely love the ruffly diaper.  All in all I was very pleased with the outcome!

Soccer Cupcake Cake

I made this for a local soccer team end of the year party.  It is a chocolate and vanilla cupcake cake.  The girls should love it!  The team's name is the Venom and I put their logo on the cake.  I think that I do a better job working with fondant, but this was good experience!

Harrison's 1st Birthday

Harrison turned one! I cannot believe it! Time really flies!  We had a few friends over to help celebrate and aired up a little bounce house in our living room. We grilled some burgers and I made some cupcakes and a simple little cake to celebrate.

Harrison was not thrilled about the cake or the hat, but he loved the balloons!

Mario cake

I made this cake for Luke's birthday (my friend's son).  He was absolutely thrilled and it was "the hit of the party!"  Brenda said that even the men were complimenting the cake.  That's when you know it's an awesome cake:)

I made his feet, hat, and arms out of Rice Krispy treats.  I love the Cake Boss for making that acceptable in cake decorating!
Luke's little brother is hoping that I will make a Luigi cake for his birthday. Haha!

Mediterranean themed birthday

My neighbor turned 40 this summer.  She loves orange chocolate and Mediterranean architecture, so I went with that exact theme.  I made a chocolate cake with an orange dark chocolate ganache filling and orange buttercream frosting.  It was very rich and very tasty!

My favorite bow

I've been looking for an excuse to try making one of these bows for a while.  Breau's coworker bought a house, so I made him a house warming gift!

This bow takes a while because you have to let the ribbon loops dry before you put them on the cake.  I made the fondant about 10 days before I made the cake, so it would be good and dry.  I also gave the fondant a quilted look.  I think it looks pretty fancy!

Masses of cupcakes!

I baked a bunch of cupcakes this summer.
These are some delicious orange chocolate cupcakes with an orange buttercream.

Everybody loves a good red velvet cupcake with cream cheese frosting!

These are my black and white cupcakes. A vanilla cake with rich chocolate buttercream. These were my favorite!

Lemon Cupcakes

I made a bunch of cupcakes for Breau to take to his office last spring. It's been a while since I updated the blog!
These were a favorite. Lemon cupcakes with lemon buttercream. They are perfect for summer!

My beautiful logo. Thank you Lisa!

Valentine's Day in sunny CA

I have been living in California for about a month now and I haven't had the opportunity to meet very many people. I decided to solve that problem and spread some love, so I baked mini Valentine's Day cupcakes for everyone in my apartment complex and delivered them door to door.

I baked two flavors of mini cupcakes, rose & red velvet. I wasn't impressed with the rose flavor. Everyone rants and raves about them on the internet, but I don't agree. I personally think that floral nodes should stay in soaps. I was very happy with the red velvet. I chose red velvet because it's Valentine's day, I love cream cheese frosting and well, who doesn't love red velvet?

I topped each cupcake with a little rose that I made out of fondant. If the rose flavored cupcakes were any good, it would have been a clever theme!
Then I placed each cupcake into a tiny white box. The mini cupcakes fit perfect. I tied a pink ribbon around each box and attached my business card. I was very pleased with the result!

My friend, Lisa, created my logo and business cards. She is amazing! I am so happy with the way they turned out. Lisa is very talented. You should check out her blog! She designs wedding invitations, baby announcements, etc. http://www.lisanicholedesigns.com/index.html

Harrison and I headed out to meet the neighbors and wish all of them a Happy Valentine's Day! We didn't make it through the entire complex because Harrison is heavy, but we will finish up tomorrow.
All in all, it was a good day and I accomplished my goal. I met some of my neighbors, I got my name out there and hopefully I will get to have an excuse to bake and design more cakes soon! I hope everyone enjoys the tasty treats!

Graduation Cake

My husband graduated from Kansas State University in December with a degree in Construction Science and Management! WooHoo!!! I am so proud of him!

I was able to make him and his friends (Tommy, Leah, & Candace) a fun cake for their graduation party. This is the first cake that I have made since Harrison was born. It was difficult balancing my time between his needs and the kitchen. The decorating became a group effort towards the end. Thank you Scott for rolling all of the balls for the border! It's a very tedious task.
A lady at the graduation party told me that I did a really good job on the cake and said, "It looks like a professional made it." That gave me a jolt of confidence;)
